The Polished Edit - Care Tips

How do I untangle a necklace chain?

Gently massage the knot to loosen it, or use a pin to ease it apart. Still stuck? Sprinkle baby powder or add a drop of oil to help slide the knot free.

Delicate chains, whether gold or silver, can tangle easily — often forming stubborn knots. To avoid damage, here are four gentle ways to untangle them safely:

1. Massage the Knot
Gently slide the chain between your fingers and massage the knot. Be patient and avoid pulling — slow movements work best.

2. Use a Pin or Needle
Insert a fine needle into the center of the knot to loosen it. Carefully separate the links without tugging too hard.

3. Sprinkle Baby Powder
Add a bit of talcum powder to the knot to reduce friction. This helps the links slide more easily as you untangle.

4. Apply a Drop of Oil
For tough knots, use a drop of olive or baby oil to lubricate the chain. Then use a pin or your fingers to ease it open.

Your jewelry holds memories and meaning — not just beauty.
With just a little attention and care, it will continue to shine with you for years to come.
